What it Means to be a Fool for Christ's Sake

I Cor. 4:10 "We are fools for Christ Sake, but you are wise in Christ, we are weak but you are strong; you are honorable, but we are despised."

Paul uses this term as a poignant reminder that we're not in a popularity contest with the world as far as our religion. We don't seek to offend, be hated or become a target, it just happens. It happens because Jesus said, "If they hated me, they will hate you. If they persecute me, they will persecute you" (Matthew 5:12-13, John 17:14).
